I saved this old link about it.
What is the difference between multiplexing and multistreaming?

Multistreaming is when we select 'Allow multiple data streams' in policy attribute.
This allows one client to generate multiple concurrent streams.
If this is combined with multiplexing in the STU and the schedule, more than one stream will go to the same tape drive.
You can read up about this in Admin Guide I under the topic Allow multiple data streams (policy attribute).
You will also find a table called Reasons to use multiple data streams.
Please also see diagrams and examples under the topic About multiplexing.
