backing up EV 10 via netbackup 7.5.04

Hi, Recently upgraded 7.5.03 to 7.5.04 on win 2008 platform. Since then somthing's wrong with my Symantec EV 10.

Backup look's fine and ends with 0 ,also on EV server when running checks get "no problems detected". But...some of the mailboxes are not archived.. Talked to Symantec EV support and the guy told me it is a problem with the Netbackup (script probably).

At the EV event viewer I can see that when the backup starting "Successfully set backup mode on the following index location. Disabling additions, deletions, and updates because the index location is in backup mode."

After 3 minutes instead of getting this at the end of backup process I get: Successfully cleared backup mode from the following index location. Enabling additions, deletions, and updates because the index location is not in backup mode. So, why getting this massage after 3 minutes?

Cheers, Itai

At the start of each Open Partition or Index backup, the NetBackup EV Agent makes an API call to Enterprise Vault to place the Vault Store(s) or Indexes being backed up into a read-only state (backup mode).
After the snapshot or backup has completed, the NetBackup EV Agent will make another API call to Enterprise Vault to clear the Vault Store(s) or Indexes from backup mode.

In prior versions of Enterprise Vault and NetBackup, this process would fail if the Vault Store or Indexes were already in backup mode.
With NetBackup 7.0.1 or higher and Enterprise Vault 9.0, this is no longer the case and the backup will proceed without failure.

However, the NetBackup EV Agent will still make the API calls to Enterprise Vault, thus above the messages in the Enterprise Vault Event log.

The NetBackup EV Agent will leave the Vault Store(s) and Indexes in the same state that they were originally in, despite the messages in the Event log.
This is because there are certain situations that an Enterprise Vault Admin will require that the Vault Store(s) and/or Indexes get placed into and remain in backup mode.  For example, if an EVSVR process is being run to rebuild or sync up a database with a Vault Store.  This process could potentially take days and it would be detrimental if the Vault Store was brought out of backup mode prematurely.

Solution

If there is no specific reason for the Vault Store(s) and/or Index locations to be in backup mode, they should be manually cleared from backup mode via the Vault Admin Console (VAC).

To do this, open the VAC and expand Enterprise Vault > Directory on EV Server > and select the EV Site name.
Right-click the EV Site name and select Set State.
Select Clear Backup Mode from all Vault Stores and Clear Backup Mode on all index locations.

If the Vault Store(s) and/or Indexes do require to remain in backup mode, then no action needs to be taken.
