Hello ,

Backup was partial due to one file did not taken up in Backup :

08/11/2016 15:05:14 - Error bpbrm (pid=17846) from client deniq1o_bak: ERR - File /platform/i86pc/boot_archive shrunk by 10541052 bytes, padding with zeros

08/11/2016 15:05:17 - Info bpbrm (pid=17846) from client deniq1o_bak: TRV - [/proc] is on file system type PROC. Skipping

I tried the backup couple of times and everytime  Netbackup is complaining about this file only.

I checked the size of file and its the same before and after backup.

Please provide suggestions  experts

Regards

S.

What version of Netbackup are you using ?

What OS is the client running (X86 Solaris) ?

/proc can be excluded from the backup. It is a memory file system created by the OS at boot time. I do not know X86 Solaris so I can't say if its safe to exclude /platform but I would presume it (it is on Linux)

Netback version

HARDWARE SOLARIS
VERSION NetBackup 7.5.0.4
RELEASEDATE Sun Sep 16 09:06:39 CDT 2012

Solaris 5.10 x86

There are no issues with /proc as /proc is skipped.

The issue was with only /platform/i86pc/boot_archive file

Do you have more Solaris clients with this error , or just this once ?
