Hi everyone.
I have a strange situation.
A backup job continues to run also if snapshot is removed.
From log o f snapshot I have this message:
06/04/2013 20:16:52 - end VMware, Validate Image; elapsed time: 00:00:00
06/04/2013 20:16:52 - begin VMware, Delete Snapshot
06/04/2013 20:16:54 - started process bpbrm (5448)
06/04/2013 20:16:55 - Info bpbrm(pid=5448) Starting delete snapshot processing
06/04/2013 20:16:55 - Info bpfis(pid=0) Snapshot will not be deleted
Status 0
06/04/2013 20:16:58 - Info bpfis(pid=5920) Backup started
But from backup log I have this:
[...]
06/04/2013 20:16:42 - Info bpbkar32(pid=5504) bpbkar waited 5852 times for empty buffer, delayed 17661 times.

06/04/2013 20:16:51 - Info arcadia(pid=5600) StorageServer=PureDisk:arcadia; Report=PDDO Stats for (arcadia): scanned: 44581148 KB, CR sent: 1985756 KB, CR sent over FC: 0 KB, dedup: 95.5%
06/04/2013 20:16:52 - Info bpbrm(pid=3456) validating image for client GTERMS8
06/04/2013 20:16:52 - end writing; write time: 00:16:13
the requested operation was successfully completed(0)
[...]
I have checked from WMvare snapshot manager. There isn't any active snapshot for my VM.
But I found that the job is running and I need to stop manually.
Any error or additional info also from VM.
Any idea?
Thanks a lot

see the below link related to known bug
it has EEB, if you feel that you are experincing the same issue, go ahead and apply the EEB and check how it works.

Snapshot is not removed...
06/04/2013 20:16:52 - Info bpbrm(pid=3456) validating image for client GTERMS8
06/04/2013 20:16:52 - end writing; write time: 00:16:13
and its a backup validation happening after the successfull backups.. so its looks fine..
When you say . you need to stop manaully... how exactly you its doing...

Never cancel the snapshot policy, only stop the backup policy, the control job and snapshot will finish after this. If you cancel the snapshot, the system can let some snapshot saves in machine and use space from your disk.
So, cancel you backup job and wait the snapshot cancel itself.

Hi,
Thanks for your replaies.
Of course, before stop snapshot job I verified that there wasn't any snapshot active.
So, from virtual center I saw that any snapshot where active for my virtual machine.
Also from Vsphere messages I can see that snapshot was removed:
Task: Remove snapshot
info
07/04/2013 13:36:14
Remove snapshot
GTERMS8
Administrator
Task: Release disk lease
info
07/04/2013 13:35:59
Release disk lease
GTERMS8
Administrator
Task: Map disk region
info
07/04/2013 13:21:44
Map disk region
GTERMS8
Administrator
However from activity monitor I see that the job is runnung so with right click on it I do "cancel job" and the job stops with status 150 and also I can see that the backup job is already finished regulary.

I believe when you say you are calceling the job, you are doing that from Netbackup activity moniter no where els..
after you cancle the job, are you able to see the Backup image in catalog.. if yes. you are somehow safe with backup data.
what is your netbackup version
does it 7.5.0.5
if yes.. there is known bug related to activity moniter. please chek in late breaking news

Thanks Nagalla,
After I cancel the job I can see the backup in catalog.
My NBU is 7.5.0.5
Do you have the link of the bug description?

Thanks a lot Nagalla,
Now I've just scheduled a reboot for the VM that for 2 weeks I had the problem.
In fact I have this issue since 2 saturdays ago for the same virtual machine and only 2 times because I do full bck once a week.
Next week I'll check if this issue is solved or not.
I'll let you know
Thanks for now
