Master Server OS - win 2008 r2, NBU version - 7.5.0.4
There is a windows 2003 machine whose location E:\3365 has been mapped Network drive on master server name as 336x(\\gffs03)(Z:). 3365 folder contains the 5 mounted partitions and 6 folders. Now when we check those mounted partitions from Z: drive, its seen as shortcut link (please check the screenshot). Type of this shortcut is mentioned as "Provided Volume". Now when we try to backup the Z: drive, all the folders get backedup except the partitions.
When we try to backup up the specific partitions by mentioning the path in selection list, the job fails with status 71
In Policy attribute - cross mounts and backed network drive option are checked.
Now i want to know whether this type of backup is allowed by Netbackup. If yes then what can be the solution. if no then why??
We have find the workaround as if we mentioned the UNC path containing the name of all the folders and reached till the file location, only then backup is successful. But the mounted partition contains many folder which is not possible to mention every folder path in selection list.
Please find the attachment of screenshot and bpbkar logs

Did you select Backup network drives option in the Policy attributes ?
it should be selected to backup the Network shares.
if not , please select the option and try again..
EDIT
the better option is alwasy perform the backup from source instead if taking backup from network shares.

hi,
the bpbkar log is not showing anyting related to Z:\Versuch_und_Akustik\Akustikkamera_Planung
and also from the disk manager i , Z drive is not assigned.
please try to map with the Drive latter in disk mannager
and then try backup only for Z:\Versuch_und_Akustik\Akustikkamera_Planung with verbose 5
if you still see the failurs, post the bpbkar log and also , bpmount command output

See this TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO34955
If you back up a network drive or a UNC (universal naming convention) path, do the following: use the Services application in the Windows Control Panel to verify that the NetBackup Client service does not start under the SYSTEM account. The SYSTEM account cannot access network drives.
To back up network drives or UNC paths: change the NetBackup Client service startup to log in as a user that has permission to access network drives.
Same info in http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO50846
PS: Do not use drive letter - only use UNC path in Backup Selection.
Start NBU Client Service as domain user with sufficient permissions to network drive. Choose account with no password expiration.
