Default timeout of 300 seconds is too low.  Insert this line into your .bch file and retry the job.

VDITIMEOUTSECONDS 900

Hello,

you cannot backuprestore to/from Netbackup via SQL Management Studio. You must use NetBackup for MS SQL interface or dbbackex command.

Hello,

please clarify how you use "sql server managemenr studio" with yor backups. As I said it is not supported. Your scipt looks like traditional .bch launched within NetBackup MS SQL Agent interface, not within SQL Management Studio.

VDI timeout errors are usually caused by another confliciting BACKUP DATABASE process on the same database. Review MS SQL instance processes and if any other processes like this, kill them.

Michal

Hello Michal,

Yes my script is launched within NetBackup MYSQL Agent interface and not with sql server managemenr studio,

are there any better approaches !!

2 things:

Operating system error 0x80070005(Access is denied.)

To resolve this issue, make sure all SQL Instances are using the same service account to run.

In addition, make sure this account has sufficient NTFS permissions to access the SQL database files.

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH59280

==

Connection timeout is <900> seconds.
CONTINUATION: - The api was waiting and the timeout interval had elapsed.

Client is quite slow. Try increasing VDITIMEOUT to 1800 or 2400.

Please check for hanging dbbackex processes on the client. If no backup is running, there should be none of these in running processes. Kill any hung dbbackex processes. In addition to checking SQL service accounts, also check that NBU Client Service account is running with sufficient SQL permissions, not Local System. Please show us your .bch script. I am curious about the reference to compression...

SQLHOST "ALG-SQL01"
NBSERVER "ALG-NETBACKUP"
VDITIMEOUTSECONDS 1800

NBU Client Service account needs SQL admin rights. Please review the TN in Will's post as well.

Hi

Please check following things:

1) Account which you are using for SQL backups, that should be member of "BulitIN Administrator" group and should have "sysadmin" privilages in MS SQL.

2) start Netbackup client services & netbackup Legacy Network services with this log in account.

3) open SQL management studio> open activity monitor in SQL management STudio > under Process tab >> comamnd > check if there is any comamnd of type "backup" or "backup databse" or "backup logs".

if yes, right click and kill . then retry the backup.

if this does not solve your issue, then check event logs> application and see if there are any error/warning events realted to MSSQL.
