bpdbm logs not recycling

Hi,

I have NBU6.5.4 running on solaris and having hard time with the log recycle on /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bpdbm folder. Master server host properties, clean-up, keep_logs set for 3 days but the logs are not getting deleted after 3 days. All other logs and media server logs gets deleted after 3 days.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at this article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH124903

How big are the logs files that are not getting removed?  Look at the bprd log to see if you are seeing the same messages the above article mentions.

It looks to be fixed with 6.5.6, but if you cannot upgrade an EEB should be available, just open a case with Symantec and ask them for the fix for Etrack: 1946020.

I cannot remember the cause nor the resolution at the moment (altho' I will keep digging!)

We are also running 6.5.4 on Solaris (9) & didn't upgrade to resolve. As a workaround we instigated a cron job to clean up these image files 'manually' on a daily basis.

I do remember we had to install an EEB from Symantec ...... ah it's all coming flooding back now!

We had an issue in that the image cleanup was running but 'failing' with error code 47 (host unreachable) as consequence of this, I believe,  was that the bpdbm logs were not being cleaned up.

See my post at the time: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/problems-image-cleanup-upgrade-654

Could it be that you also have some image database inconsistencies? I would suggest placing a call with Symantec (the EEB supplied was specific to my particular issues/catalog entries) & putting that crontab entry in as a workaround until sorted.
