Hi all,

I have a Media Server AIX:

uname -a
AIX media-dr-3 1 6 00F88DD94C00

cat /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/version
NetBackup-AIX6 7.6.1

when I have some processes "bpstsinfo" that take much RAM memory resurses.

Pid Command Inuse Pin Pgsp Virtual 64-bit Mthrd 16MB

For example, I have pid 7274722 that take up 2,5 GB.

What do you think about this ? what tests can I do ??

How much memory in total on this server?

Maybe tell us what else is happening on this server when you see this?

Lots of duplications and/or replication jobs?

Are jobs completing successfully?

Something that I found in Troubleshooting Guide some time ago:

Verify that all media servers configured for the storage server can communicate with the storage server. The bpstsinfo command queries the storage server periodically, so you can use the bpstsinfo log on the media server.

8 GB of RAM is really very little for a media server.
We have laptops these days with double that amount!

What type of backup devices on this media server and how many?

What other software on this media server? Or dedicated media server?

Hi Marianne,

I return on this discussion because the problem is still also with 16 GB RAM.

Now we had incremented to 32 GB.

Please can you suggest what is the best memory configuration for a Media Server ?

thank you

best regards
