cDot 8.3 Tape Drive Netbackup 7.7

Marcel123

Hallo * ,

After my last 10 hours, i give up.

My personal backup nigthmare:

I should configure Netapp cDot 8.3.2 with Netbackup 7.7 over NDMP using OCUM and NBUPlugin and Backup to Tape using SSO Drive.

My Old Working Setup is:

- netbackup 7.7.2 Domain 1 Master 6 Media Servers

- Netapp 7Mode 4 Filers

- DFM / NBU Plugin for 7 mode

- Replication Director

-SSO between the filers and the tape drives.

My new not working Setup:

The Only one what i want to use is the SSO Tape Drive from the old config.

- netbackup 7.7.2 Domain 1 Master 6 Media Servers

- 2 cdot 8.3 Clusters(sto10/sto11) with  4 nodes

- TapeDrive should be only connected to 1 Node on sto10 (sto10-04) and sto11 (sto11-08)

- Ocum 6.4R1 with NBUPlugin 2.0.1 is working.

- Replication Director config is working.

- Backup to Tape not working.

My Problem:

I have read a lot of documents, the best is that:

http://www.veritas.com/docs/000025335

So if i configure all the stuff I can see the tape:

tpautoconf -probe sto11

When i do a  device scan over the gui, they said no devices found on that NDMP Host.

So without device no Storage Unit. Without Storage Unit no Backup from Snapshot.

I have also the old Setup, that are connected to the same drive. The output is:

This is the issue: " When i do a device scan over the gui, they said no devices found on that NDMP Host. "

If you compare the device names in tpautoconf -probe output, you will see that on the cluster node it shows additional /sto11-08/ in device name. I don't know how to change this or how to 'convince' NBU to use these device paths. My guess is that there should be additional documentation for NBU and CDOT config. All I can suggest is to log a Support call with Veritas and request assistance from Backline engineer with NBU and NetApp cDot expertise.
