Good Morning,

I have installed che netbackup agent on Linux x64 with OS Centos.

I've used the same steps configuration for all server in my company.  But in this time, I have an error: can't connect to client 58.

The server ping and communicate with the master and media server, but on the GIU in the host property, the master have says "cannot connect on socket".

I have added in the bp.conf the  media server but not works.

This is the details status:

The port 1556 it's ok with telnet from client to master/media.

Have you tried the other way round?
Did you telnet from the master and media server to client on port 1556?

bptestbpcd shows us that client is refusing all connection attempts on pbx, vnetd and  bpcd.

Did you remember to create bpcd log folder on the client before bptestbpcd?
Was anything logged in client's bpcd log?
If not, there is a firewall problem - either on the client (iptables) or company firewall.

Is the OS firewall (iptables) stopped and disabled?

If there is a firewall, is port 1556 open between client and master/media server(s)?

If firewalls have been checked, do the following:

Create bpcd folder on the client under /usr/openv/netbackup/logs.
Check that pbx, vnetd and bpcd are running on the client.
Check that forward and reverse lookup is working correctly between client and server(s).
If no DNS, check /etc/hosts entries.

Do the following on the master:

bptestbpcd -client <client-name> -debug -verbose

Post output as well as contents of client's bpcd log.

If nothing is logged in bpcd on the client, there is a firewall problem.

Rather than list all the tests, the technote if fairly verbose on the troubleshooting.

Hi all and thanks for the replies.

Iptables is disabled on the client.

The port 1556 it's ok with telnet from client to master/media.

I've followed your steps and I receive this error when I starts /bptestbpcd -client otrstestnew.it -debug -verbose

This is strange, because the configuration is the same for all servers.

Have you done:

> Try to hardcode the hostname/IP on both Master/Media and Client side.

> bptestbpcd -client <client-name> -verbose

Thanks,

Hello,

your problem can be an asymetric routing when you have many network interfaces or you use many VLANs in the network architecture.

you nbu server contact your client via an network interface and your client answer on another one.

If it is right, just correct client interface.

Steve

Hi,

thanks all for the replyes, now the problem is resolved. The problem was of network, the port was not open from master/media to client.

Thanks Marianne, you are the best in this comminuty :)
