can we intsall Netbackup 7.5 and Backup exec 12.5 on same physical server?

Hi Experts,

we are planning to migrate one of our Backup application (BE) to Netbackup.

Current BE version is 12.5.Restore using import otion is nt feasable in 12.x versions.(it has 8 small servers 2 tb..with 25 yrs retention)

so we want to intsall BE on same NBU Application machine and wld like to use this whenever restore reqsts comes in.

we rarely get a restore reqsts for this site..

Please advice is this advisable to go ahead with this plan?

I would not recommend this. BE is going to try use the library as will NBU. You're going to get clashes.

You should be able to restore BE data by importing it into NBU though.

Import option is ruled out in our case because we r using 12.x version BE and encryption is enabled .there is no support for Backup Exec 12.5 images or later image versions for these kind of requests.

Normally we can restore using BE tapes using Netbackup but because of the above two limitations we cant import it from BE to NBU

You should not install both products on the same server, some files are effectly shared meaning some commands will give incorrect results for a start.

It is also unsupported.
