Hi,

When I am trying to import the tape its failing with "cannot perform specified media import operation(176)" error.

Following are my observation and steps performed:

- Media 1st phase import is failing.

- Checked the media and its showing imported status.

- Media to import is in other pool, so no backup will run on that pool.

- Media is write protected.

- Media goes to frozen state when import task is run.

Below are the logs:

12/14/2015 11:56:10 AM - Info bptm(pid=12280) INF - Waiting for mount of media id AKG321 on server ****** for reading.

12/14/2015 11:56:10 AM - granted resource AKG321

12/14/2015 11:57:12 AM - mounted; mount time: 0:01:02

12/14/2015 11:57:20 AM - Error bptm(pid=12280) WRN - Cannot import media id AKG321, that media id is already active on this server.

12/14/2015 11:57:20 AM - Info bptm(pid=12280) EXITING with status 176 <----------

12/14/2015 11:57:20 AM - Error bpimport(pid=10232) Status = cannot perform specified media import operation.

12/14/2015 11:57:20 AM - end Import; elapsed time: 0:01:14

cannot perform specified media import operation(176)

Any suggestions, also should the media show imported status if the import fails. Do we need to change the imported status.

Yes, Expire and Unfreeze.

Please ensure that bptm log folder exists on the media server performing the import.

Maybe the Freeze happened first. bptm log should tell us what the issue is with the media and why it was frozen.

You cannot import a tape that is already imported. Why do you want to import it again? If you want to re-import for some reason, you will need to unfreeze and expire this tape.

Hi Marianne,

The media is showing imported but when we run the second level import it is not showing any catalog information.

I guess it is not successfully imported but media status is changed to imported.

So should I expire the images and re run the import job.
