convert media server to master server.

Hi Guys,

   i have two server, the one i have installed netbackup as master server, the other i have installed netbackup same version as media server. Now , master server was broken , could i convert media server to master server ? How ? Anyone could show me the step by step for this issue ?

Kind of. Reinstall NBU as a master on the 'media server' using the same exactly the same hostname. Then recover the catalog - steps to do this are in the NBU Troubleshooting Guide.

Wouldnt this be basically the same thing as installing a fresh/new server?

Hi hellomam,

Convert media server in master server is not possible. To resolve this issue, uninstall media server and re-install as the master server and media server (2 functions).

I hope that your Netbackup database (EMM) is accessible yet, if not, you will install a new netbackup master server.
