error 96 no media is available, Media Frozen, Loading Failure from drive.

win 2008 r2

NB 7.5.0.5

Backing c:\ drive files

taking multiple copies 

copy 1 to NetApp storage

copy 2 to THU tape

so copy 1 success

copy 2 failed giving 96 error no media is available

when checked in thursday pool , giving Media status FROZEN 

when cheked in tape logs giving LOADING FAILURE

so how to resolve it?

to check status of media

<Install_path>\VERITAS\Netbackup\bin\admincmd\bpmedialist -m <mediaID>

to unfreeze media (it will not delete the data on media)

For Windows

<Install_path>\VERITAS\Netbackup\bin\admincmd\bpmedia -unfreeze -m <mediaID> -h <name of media server that froze media>

check if there is a stack tape in the drive or if the drive needs cleaning

no tapes were not stucked

i rann unfreeza command and restarted he job

it successfully started

You need to find out WHY media was frozen in the first place.

It is not always a good idea to unfreeze media - tapes may be bad/faulty.

Keep an eye on these media id's - if you see errors like status 83, 84, 85, check Media Logs report and bptm log on media server for more info.

NetBackup freezes media for 2 reasons, either as it is protecting what is on the tape, or as the application has had a problem writing to the tape, which typically is 3 errors writing to tape in the last 12 hours.
