Hi,

You'll need to check your networking then, 195 usually indicates communication problems between the EMM and the media server. Check everything from name resolution, routes, mulitple network interfaces etc.

Please copy and paste the error so we can have a better idea of what is wrong. Also, post a decsription of the problem/issue. An error in Windows Event viewer might be irrelevant, or not important depending on the error.

Finally, post details of your environment, Server O/S, patch levels, NeTbackup version, patch level for master, media and clients.

EMM interface initialization failed , status=334

Could you post the actual error? I presume that it is an event viewer error & not a NetBackup error?

***EDIT***

Scratch that question - too slow!

& many have different issues & resolutions.

e.g. if you look for 334 in the following, there are 2 pages of TechNotes that could offer you a resolution (***EDIT*** make that one page as the rest is just chaff!):

If you've just installed the media server check that the Media Server entries exist on Master Server.

application event viewer"

Missed this post! So the installation is still progressing when you see this error? Having never done a Windows server installation I'd be tempted to let it ride until the install finishes & then see if it was a successful installation .... maybe that's normal?

***EDIT***

Only other thing that comes to mind - did you do a 'typical' installation or 'custom'? Did you change the default EMM server location (default: master)? Just wondering if you made any changes that might cause this error on installation.....

Go to Host Properties, Master Server, open the master server properties, then look in the servers sections, check to see that you media server is listed in the media server section.

I'm saying that from Memory so please have a look around if I'm not 100% correct with directions.

If your new media server is not in that list, add it, then try and restart the services on the media server.
