Hi,

When I try restoring mailboxes from exchange DB was backup by using GRT and run restore job its field with error MS-Exchange-Server policy restore error (2810)

Job details

4/10/2012 9:05:19 AM - begin Restore
4/10/2012 9:05:20 AM - restoring image bap-s-mbx1_1333874560
4/10/2012 9:05:22 AM - Info bprd(pid=5076) Restoring from copy 1 of image created 04/08/12 10:42:40
4/10/2012 9:05:49 AM - restored image bap-s-mbx1_1333874560 - (can't connect to client(58)); restore time 00:00:29
4/10/2012 9:05:49 AM - end Restore; elapsed time: 00:00:30
MS-Exchange-Server policy restore error(2810)

After troubleshoot and test connection by using command bptestbpcd -client name of server the connection between master server and media server (mailboxes server) called bap-s-mbx1 and 2 CAS servers (clients) work fine

But I when I try run above command from mailbox server called bap-s-mbx1 (media server) to 2 cas servers (clients) I got error failed 25 cannot connect on socket

NB

Firewall disable on all servers

I created rule to allow connection for some tcp ports (13724,13782,1556) on mailboxes server and 2 cas servers

Result of run bptestbpcd -verbose -debug -client command from mailboxes server (Bap-s-mbx1) to cas server (bap-s-hc1)

 bptestbpcd: server not allowed access

Two tings to check

  • The client is able to perform name resoloution of the media servers in qustion.
  • The server list in the Netbackup BAR GUI on the client  must show the media servers in use

Domain names must be FQDN eg. server.acme.com not just short name e.g. "server".

i check client is able to perform name resoloution of the media servers

but what do you mean by The server list in the Netbackup BAR GUI on the client show media server

do you mean add server by FQDN in master server under host properites under master server duble click on master server name and select servers and additional servers and add all servers with FQDN

Thanks you for your effort

No, the CLIENT must have the media server hostname added to the SERVER list to allow the media server to establish a connection to the NetBackup processes on the client.

Otherwise it will deny access. You'd usually see a status 59 in this situation, but check it anyway.

Run Netbackup command

bpclntcmd -reverse_name_lookup prohibited

on the client and retry the operation.  Have you ensured the name resoloution work in reverse on the client. Netbackup must be able to resolve the client by name but also by IP !

This is the big give away:

bptestbpcd: server not allowed access

It may simply be your media server is connecting from a different Network interface and that does not resolve on the client to a name in it's SERVER list.

now  i try run bptestbpcd -client to 2 Cas servers and it work fine

but the CAS virtual name still show the same error failed  cannot connect on socket 25

What does the bpcd log on the client show you?

So looking at the log, I assume the media server trying to connect is bap-backup ?

Did you configure Master Server Host Properties as per NBU for Exchange manual?

4 Select Distributed Application Restore Mapping.
5 Click Add.
6 Provide the name of the application host and the name of the component host, as follows:

Environment Application host Component host
DAG Virtual name of DAG Physical name of Node 1
Virtual name of DAG Physical name of Node 2
Virtual name of DAG Physical name of Node 3
Virtual name of DAG Physical name of CAS server
Exchange host name Off-host machine name

i am allready add servers in Distributed Application Restore Mapping as above

But I have 2 Question what do mean off-host machine name?

is need to add cas viurtal name in Distributed Application Restore Mapping or not?

Do you have a CAS Load Balancer in place?

If so - see this post: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/netbackup-701-restoring-individual-mailbox-items-exchange-2010#comment-5750721
