Environment

OS of Netbackup = windows 2003 R2 SP2

Netbackup version = 7.5.0.5

OS of Exchange = 2008R2 enterprise (64bit)

Exchange version = 2010

Netbackup client version = 7.5

Two nodes with mailbox roles with VCS HA clustered

One HT and CAS role installed on single server

Query

if Exchange Server DAG is not configured and Exchange2010 Server is clustered(with two nodes) with the help of VERITAS Cluster Server(SFHA) , what machine/server name we use under VERITAS Netbackup Server Exchange policy client tab (if DAG configured we can use it but what in my case)

same concept, use the virtual name

If Exchange is clustered or in a Database Availability Group (DAG), specify
the virtual Exchange name that represents that cluster or DAG.

Zaheed, do you have IP and Lanman resources in your service group with virtual IP and hostname?

If so - this is what you need to use.

Use the same Exchange hostname that Outlook Clients are using to connect.

@ wr                  We cannot use DAG when we use VERITAS cluster.

@ Marianne        We ran the Exchange 2010 wizard while configuring the exchange cluster and this wizard did not created the LANMAN resource

Zaheed, please clear the solution that I have marked. I have done so because you did not respond in many days.

wr highlighted the words clustered and virtual Exchange name (not DAG).

So, if no Lanman resource was created for the Exchange service group - how are users connecting to  Exchange? What is configured in DNS?

In exchange 2010, user mailboxes exist on a machine on which mailbox role is installed and in exchange 2010 outlook users connects with CAS servers, this CAS Server send back the user request to mailbox role installed machine(for accessing the mailbox). So there is a virtual name of CAS Server not for mailbox role machines. (There is a virtual name we can use if the DAG is in the environment which is not our case)

Could you clarify a few things please - feel free to substitue actual server names....

What are the names of the nodes

Are the nodes also CAS servers or are they seperate

When a user sets up their e-mail what server name do they point to

What does the exchange management console show in terms of exchange names

Can the Master / Media server resolve the "exchange" name?

Just trying to get a real feel for exactly what you have - thanks
