increase backup speed after enabling compression

Hi

We have enable compression attribute in netbackup policy window to overcome storage crunch,but backup speed has reduced considerably,please suggest if we can increase the speed with compression attribute enabled.backup is taken directly on disk.

Compression is not meant for speed improvement - it is meant to reduce the amount of data sent from the client across the network.

Compression puts a high load on client resources and will thus slow down client's ability to generate and send data.

Rather invest in dedupe technology.
With Capacity or Data Protection Optimisation license, you can implement MSDP.

Compression in the policy setting is software based, and will slow down backup consideriable.

This is expected behavior.
