i currently have NBU 7.7.3 installed in a Oracle Linux 6.3 server. am checking SORT for options on the best way to upgrade to the latest supported version together with a hardware refresh. but look at what SORT says (attached). i have master and media installed in Oracle Linux 6.3 yet SORT says only client only.
now i'm confused if i should believe SORT recommendations.

Correct. Master is not supported on 7.7.2 onwards, see https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100015485
You'll need to migrate the master to a supported Linux flavour before the upgrade.

i guess i need to reword my post.
SORT says on Oracle Linux 6.x only client but right now i have both master and media server installed on Oracle Linux 6.3 then why SORT says otherwise?

It might appear to work, and might actually work, for a while, or maybe even forever - but won't be officially supported by Veritas.
How it got to be installed, well someone else must have installed it without double checking the SCL beforehand.

Back in time, a often used phrase from veritas (before Veritas became Symantec) was "it may work, but it is unsupported".
This is the case with Oracle Linux, who according to the link below claims Oracle Linux is binary compatible with Red Hat Linux", but unfortunately Veritas has decided not to support that distro.
