Dear All,

Is BMR client & Boot server Is supported in Netbackup 7.0?
Because in the Manual of the compatibility list for the Netbackup, it is mentioned that "BMR client & Boot server is not supported in netbackup 7.0 but is supported in netbackup 7.0.1"

Has Netbackup 7.0.1 released ?

Waiting for quick response.

Thanks.

Which Compatibility Guide are you looking at?
Are you looking for BMR support for a specific O/S? If so, which O/S?

BMR support for different O/S's is listed in NBU7 Platform Compatibility Guide

Specific BMR support for each O/S is listed in the Operating Systems section starting on p. 6.

General BMR support info on p. 45:
"BMR Boot Server"
* BMR Boot Server is supported on the same Operating Systems as the BMR client. BMR Boot Server bitness is not relevant. I.E., a Windows x86 boot server can boot x86 and x64 servers and visa-versa.
"BMR Boot Server Requirements"
1. The Boot Server must be of the same OS as the clients that are being recovered. The Master and Boot Server can reside on the same server without issue. You can have multiple Boot Servers of the same OS registered to the Master Server.
2. The Boot Server can only support clients at the same OS release or lower than it is.
As an example, a Solaris 10 Boot Server can do Solaris 10 and Solaris 9 clients. A Solaris 10 Boot Server can support all supported versions of Solaris clients.
Windows 2003 Boot Server can do all supported Windows client versions (Windows XP, Windows 2003). It is considered the highest OS release version.
3. Boot Server should updated to the same NBU patch level as the Master Server. The Boot Server needs to be at the same NBU patch level or higher than the clients it supports.
4. Solaris clients can only network boot to a Solaris Boot Server on the same sub-net. All other clients do not have this restriction.
5. You must have a BMR Boot Server to create BMR bootable restore media. However, when using such media, a Boot Server is not required and is not part of the restore process.

NBU 7.0.1 is still in FA: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/356785.htm

BMR is totally supported in NBU 7. if not why do NBU Server have the BMR backup check box in the policy ?. See the snap for your reference.

You can also see the below TAB in NBU Server 7 which confirms that BMR is present in NBU version7

Guys, dragging up all these threads from July and August, which qiblatain (or Baski, or whomever as the case may be) may or may not see/revisit even WITH your "help," doesn't really seem to be really productive to me.  Just my humble opinion.

Maybe next time you could send a gentle PM to the user in question and link them to the "unsolved" threads and request they add their own follow-up and/or mark a solution?  That way, even if they DON'T come back, at least you haven't bumped their thread and confused some other folks (who don't necessarily check the datestamps) who have dutifully tacked on their own reply so as to "earn" their 1 point.  ;)
