NBU 7.7.3

we never trust java being secure so we don't have any management console based on java. NBU used to be installed without java but now the installation option doens't provide that.

is the future of NBU java? or in version 8.x we can have a browser based management console instead?

Hello,

7.7.1 or 7.7.2 was the last supported version with non-Java console . Since then, only Java console is available. Yes there is a web browser console developed (some new things especially in 8.1.2 version), however its functionality is still very limited in comparison with Java console.

You can use OpsCenter

NetBackup 9.1.0.1 on Solaris 11, writing to Data Domain 9800 7.7.4.0
duplicating via SLP to LTO5 & LTO8 in SL8500 via ACSLS

No, the previous .EXE console is not coming back. I'm still not sure if the web console will eventually replace the Java one (it's really limited right now), I had hopes the "web console" windows service was a hint towards this but it only manages certificates.

On the bright side, the Java Console now does a lot of things it previously couldn't (like copy-pasting Smiley Very Happy).

Hello,

If you want GUI interface then you have to use the Java console. From 8.0 the Java communication is more secured in NBU environment. Have you found any security issue in NBU java console?

Thanks
