eth0 utilization on the other hand is not even 30-40% used during same time.

How did you measure network utilization? Is it reliable in virtualized environment? How much transfer rate?

Does this machine have multiple NICs? For what each NICs are used? What type of backup running when you observed 100% util?

Are you using this server as combined media server? What version of netbackup are you using? What OS?

We have a monitoring tool called BMC ProactiveMonitoring which gives us network util report.
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.7

Netbackup Version: 7.1.0.4

There is 1 Nics on the m/c, eth0: (Gb/s)

the Utilization is high between 1:00-6:00 AM when we have unix server (differential incremental) backup running.
