locating file within the catalog

Hi,

I would like to know (in case someone will ask if one particular file is backed-up and when... ) if there is already a script out there that does this:
- Locate a file on the catalog
- when was the last successful backup of that file (on which client)

If i have to do that myself, what are the commands i shall have to use.

Thanks.

Hi,

you can use backup, archive and restore

once you select the client, you can search for items to restore.

from this you can find when was the last successfull backup.

Srikanth.

Hi Srikanth,
Thanks for the reply, i already knew that method which is helpful indeed. I was looking for a command line alternative which might be faster and look for multiple clients, suppose you can tell people without the hastle of browsing through the restore window "Yes, that file you accidently deleted has been  backed-up on ... " wouldnt that be great ?Smiley Wink

Most people get this error until they understand the usage of the command. It can be a pain. just one mis-type, misused parameter, or even the wrong case sensitivity will gie that error, I suggest first locating a particular file via the BAR GUI and then try listing it with the bplist command just to get used to the command.
