Hii everyone!!

I am new in backup admin, Please help me for the following.....

Description:

I have one physical Server, on that server we have created 3 hyper-v virtual machines.

I have another physical server with 2 Hyper-v virtual machines.

My Queries:

Q1: In this case how i can which type of backup is best.

A)may i configure the backup of physical server, then which type of policy is best to backup.

B)May i configure virtual machine backup,If i will configured it by using Hyper-v Type, can i able to take 3 vm's by a single policy.

Q2: In one Hyper-V policy can we backup one or more physical server vm's or we want to configure a new policy for every physical server.

Thanks&Regards,

Siva Sankar

Hello Siva,

Reply to Q1,

Configure a policy to take a VM backup. There are two ways you can configure hyper-v policy as mentioned in the below links,

Creating a Hyper-V policy for automatic virtual machine selection

https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/21357025-127305010-0/v103477289-127305010

Creating a Hyper-V policy from the NetBackup Policies utility

https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/21357025-127305010-0/v18923839-127305010

Reply to Q2,

You can have only one hyper-v standalone physical server on each policy.

If hyper-v servers are in cluster then use cluster name to configure hyper-v policy.

Thx

@MSivasankar

Can I ask you to hold off with Hyper-V backups until you have read the manual?
Even if you just read through the intitial chapters that explains how it all fits together, and then the Policy configuration as well.
