need to restore data from different master server

Hi,

I had a scenario here that a master server's tape library is down and we need a restore data on one of its configured clients to be done ASAP.

So, I thought of configuring this cleint server in same domain and trasfer the tape which has data to another master server and start restoring.

For this, I shipped the tape to the master server which has good tape library and I successfully inventoried too into the library.

When I am running Import 1, I am getting an error 63. (process killed by signal). and tape got freezed. When I tried to unfreeze tape, its showing as "EMM Databse error. Media ID is not assigned".

Please assist me how to do this restore successfully.

Depending on the vendor of the robot you could configure one of the tape drives in the down robot as stand alone tape drive and handle it manual.

This procedure works for the StorageTek line of robots.

Error bptm (pid=17569) error requesting media, TpErrno = Robot operation failed

Robot seems to believe that tape cannot be mounted. 

What type of media is this? LTO1/2/3/4/5? Some other type maybe?

What drive types are in remote master?

Try to use robtest to test mount of media id SC0156 into one of the drives.

Hi Marianne,

Its moving to drive from slot when from robtest.

Drive type is LTO4. All drives types in current master and remote master is also HCART drives (LTO4).

After movement to Drive, when I tried 1st phase import it says that no images matches within the selection criteria for phase 2 import.

1) Does it really import if tape is freezed?

2) How to unfreeze this tape now?

I checked if I had given good selection points for importing also. And I sure this is not expired tape yet

Phase 1 Import must succeed before Phase 2 can be attempted. The error message indicates that you have attempted phase 2 import.

Phase 1 is started with Actions, Initiate Import.

Tape is not Assigned, therefore it does not seem to be FROZEN. You can verify with:
