hello

i have a NetBackup 7.6.0.1 installed on a Sparc T4-2 server running Solaris for Sparc .. and there is a tape library StorageTek SL150 connected to it with fiber cable ...the tape library has one tape drive ...the problem is the netbackup can't detect the robot but can detect the tape drive as a standalone drive   the operating system can see the robot and its tape drive correctly .. as you can see from the ok prompt

Duplicate of netbackup can see only the tape drive as a stand alone tape drive
Just a bit more info here...

I don't see the robot in cfgadm output. Maybe because of these messages at boot time:

Jul 15 20:25:04 oraapps.senyoritaag.com genunix: [ID 483743 kern.info] /scsi_vhci/sgen@g500104f000cd058a (sg4) multipath status: degraded: path 11 fp6/sgen@w500104f000cd058b,1 is online

Can you tell us why we are seeing this multipath status: degraded message?

We can try and help you to rebuild sg drivers as I have done in the other post, but as long as cfgadm is not seeing the robot, it seems we are wasting our time.

Seems the problem is between OS and hba driver.
Nothing we do from NBU side will fix this.

Please post /kernel/drv/sg.conf, /etc/devlink.tab and detailed steps you did in sg reconfiguration.

Have experienced similar behaviour from another vendors robot, in that case is was a question about getting the LUN number order correct. In our case it was tape drive on LUN 0 and changer on LUN 1 on the first tape drive in the SCSI chain.

I would start with verifying the robot and tape drive could be seen in the HBA tool like OneCommand for Emulex.

Another thing I have experienced is that missing terminators on the tape drives did that robot didn't come all the way online.

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue
