netbackup appliance 5230 serial port?

I feel awfully stupid that I need to ask this- but is there a serial port for netbackup appliance?

I need to upgrade the bios of the appliance and it is recommended NOT to connect remotely via ipmi.

so I went down to the server room to do the upgrade but the damn serial port is blocked with this black cover I can't open.

I then started searching about this, but didn't find much about it. in the diagrams in the netbackup guides it is marked as 'reserved'.

is the only way to connect physically is to connect a screen and keyboard? or do I need a special key to open the port?

The reason to not use the IPMI port is that some of the BIOS updates also install new IPMI code...can't update what's currently running.

Based on our 5230 and according to this: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000107792 there's a VGA port and USB ports.  So you'll need a VGA monitor and a USB keyboard to talk to the BIOS.  I've done it a couple of times when updates were needed.
