Hi,
I currently have netbacup 6.5 running on Solaris9,
If i want to go to Netbackup 7, i need to go to Solaris10. Can I just install SOlaris 10, install netbackup 7 and import the catalogue?

Do a hot catalog backup on 6.5, install Solaris 10, install NBU 6.5 (& patch to same level as before), recover hot catalog backup, then upgrade to 7.x.

I actually read that as same hardware - maybe as that's what I'm contemplating if ever I get the opportunity!! (i.e. upgrade 9 to 10 & 6.5 to 7.x)

So there is no choice but to install netbackup 6.5 on solaris 10 first?
there is no direct way to do a clean install with solaris 10 and netbackup 7.1 and then import

So are you saying taht since we are staying on the same platform ( Soalris) that goint from Solewria9 , netback 6.5 to Solaris10 netbackup 7 clean install is a doable scenario?

what we may be looking at: upgrading our Solaris 9 to Solaris 10; then upgrading our NB from 6.5 to 7.x. (same physical box)

I decommissioned my 6.5 media server with this tool http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH62119&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1303239030427. This will reassign all your tapes to another media server and decommission the media server.
Then I installed Solaris 10 and NetBackup 7.0 plus MP1 patch. You have to add the "new" media server back into NetBackup as a new server.

This procedure wil help for a media server, not a master.
