hello
My current setup is NetBackup-RedHat2.4 6.0MP4 . i would like to change the hardware to SUN and operating system to Solaris instead of linux.
does this require requesting a new license ?

The server licenses are tiered based on the number of processor cores. Even if the platform stays the same, you also have to check to see if you're changing tiers. If you are, then you may need to place an upgrade to change.
If you're migrating to SPARC, then the license can be considerably more expensive than it is on x64.

It depends on whether you are migrating to x64 or Sparc hardware and server tier.
For NBU 7, Windows Linux and Sol x64 operating systems have been consolidated into a single
platform (WLS).
All other Unix OS were consolidated in NetBackup Enterprise Server, Master/ Media Server, UNIX
(including Solaris SPARC).
Best to discuss options with your Symantec reseller.
