hi all,
we are going for patch upgradation from 7.5 to 7.5.0.5
the server is running in solaris 10.
and the clients are running in solaris as well as linux
could you please give me the tar file for server as well as clients.
do we have different client patch for solaris and linux clients?
can we push the patch from server to client or we have to go to each & every client for upgrade?
Thank you

Here i'm getting stuck, you ask me to install linux binaries in master server
Correct. You can install client binaries for Linux, AIX, HP-UX.
If you cd to /usr/openv/netbackup/client on your master, you will see a whole lot of different folders for Client OS. You will probably have files under the Solaris sub-folders:
Solaris10
Solaris9
Solaris_x86_10_64
I guess your Linux sub-folders will be empty, right?
This means you can push-install client binaries for Solaris clients, not Linux (or other Unix versions).
You can find instructions on how to install client software on your master in NBU Installation Guide. http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5154
See Adding a UNIX client after initial server installation on p. 141.
This section contains step-by-step instructions.
Do this before you install patch 7.5.0.5 to ensure that the newly installed Linux binaries are also patched.
Now you can run update_clients as per above extract from same Installation Guide.

NetBackup 7.5.0.5 download links is here. NB_7.5.0.5.solaris.tar is for SPARC NetBackup server, and NB_7.5.0.5.solaris_x86.tar is for IA Solaris Server. you also need to extract client patch(NB_CLT.7.5.0.5.tar) to same directly when you apply server patch.
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH199269
If you have already installed Linux client software on the master server, you can update both Solaris and Linux client from master server using update_clients command after you completed applying 7.5.0.5 on the master server. otherwise, you need to log on each Linux client and apply patch locally.
i recommend you to install linux client software on the master server before applying 7.5.0.5.

hi thanks for all your valuable inputs,
i have few more doubts in client upgrade,
we have around 100 solaris and linux clients and our netbackup server is running in solaris.
how can we push the client binaries from the server?
Do we need to install any extra package?
which one we have to upgrade first(should be clients or server)?
