netbackup problem

I have a netbackup problem, for a few days 1 drive out of 4 is turned off. I looked into the library and one tape is always slightly ejected from the drive but the robot does not take it. I am resetting the drive and lifting it, the tape is still in the drive. I came up with this solution, I do move the tape drive to the library and run the inventory robot. It will work for one day, probably until the tape is full. On the second day morning again the same thing, one drive is down.

IMO - three steps

1) log a support case with Veritas and ask them to help you verify that all drives are in fact visible to NetBackup.

2) also ask Veritas Support to help you prove actually physically loading each tape drive using the "robtest" utility

3) steps 1 & 2 above will show whether you need to log a hardware support call with the hardware vendor

Please ensure that you have VERBOSE entry in vm.conf on all media servers in the environment.
Restart NBU Media Manager after adding the entry.

Next time a drive goes down, the reason will be logged in /var/log/messages on the media server where the drive was DOWN'ed.
If you have a single master/media server, it will all be on the master server.

This is the problem:

TapeAlert Code: 0x0c, Type: Informational, Flag: UNSUPPORTED FORMAT, from drive HP.ULTRIUM5-SCSI.000 (index 2), Media Id 000105

The TapeAlert is sent by the tape drive. Please check the label to see if the last 2 digits are correct/visible.

Correct - certain TapeAlerts will cause NetBackup to freeze tapes (described in NBU Admin Guide II).

You need to investigate why this specific TapeAlert happened.
