netbackup urgent issue

How do I do a full restore? I pressed "select for restore" on Backup, Archive and Restore and nothing seems to be happening other than saying "communicating with server" Isn't there some wizard that is supposed to come up?

What restore type are you trying to do?

You said that are using BAR Gui right? Can you show us the error?

I agree with @Thiago_Ribeiro

We need to know what you are trying to restore, and where you are trying to open the BAR GUI. On the NBU master server or the client?

Are you opening BAR with right-click, Run as Administrator?

"communicating with server" means that the local machine is trying to connect with bprd process on the master.

As Administrator, open cmd and run this command from <install-path>\veritas\netbackup\bin:

bpclntcmd -pn

Please show us the output.
(The command may run for a long time if there is a comms issue with the master.)

PS: 

NBU 7.6 reached EOSL about 8 months ago. 
You will not be able to get any support from Veritas in case of urgent issues.

The Backup Archive and Restore (BAR) UI exists in two forms, as a Windows app and as a node in the Java NetBackup Console. Tell us which one you're using. If the former, are you executing it on the client or on the master server?

If you are running the BAR GUI app on the client and it's getting stuck at startup, try @Marianne's suggestions. Alternatively, try running it in either form on the master server. Wherever you run the GUI, set the client and policy type settings in order to see your backup images.

Hopefully @amritinfra will give us more info some time soon.

When the BAR GUI opened (server or client), then the restore section will by defaut look for backups done for the local server/client name. This process can take some time.

Not sure if this is still applicable to 7.x installations as the TN seems to be very old.
