new SQL file showing up in old backups

alent1234
Not applicable

netbackup 6.5.6 and SQL 2005 SP4

a few days ago someone did some reorganization in one of our databases by creating a new sql ndf file and getting rid of some old ones. Of course they fogot to run a full backup

I understand that i have to run a full backup to restore differential backups made since the file changes. but when i try to restore i'm seeing the new file name in scripts for backups from a month ago and i'm 100% sure that the file didn't exist then

last full was night of the 6th. the file was created monday night.

on monday morning i restored a db differential from the 9th. now when i try to do the same i get the new file name in there as well. and when i try to restore full and full/diff backups from before the last full on the 6th i cannot since the base script has the new file name.

is it an issue with netbackup where it's internal image db is somehow screwed up until i run a full backup after creating a new SQL file?
