hi, 

scenario:

we already have 1 appliance (master media ) , console 8.0 is on Windows machine , now we install new appliance (flex) ( maser media ) and need to install the new master server console (9.1) on the same machine (Windows) (can i do that?) , move all policies and later on remove the old appliance.

what is the best option to work with

Yes you can do that - uninstall the existing Java console from the windows machine and install the 9.1 version. This will allow you to start both 8.0 consoles and 9.1 consoles (the install includes all supported versions from 8.0 to 9.1). 

There are certainly other options to migrate the workload to the new appliance, but what you are considering is simple and will work. I'm guessing the old appliance is a 5230 so needs to be decommissioned. Create the policies first on the new master (deactivated), so when you "move" a client and install the certificates, you will have less difficulties (don't forget to add the new master server into the clients' SERVER list.

For the new Flex appliance, you will need to install two instances as the roles cannot be (AFAIK) combined.
