Hi,

We are running NBU 7.6.1

Master Server - Windows 2008

AIX Client on which oracle 10.2.0.5.0 is running.

While running backup we are getting error status 6.

Check the attachment for screen shot.

Status 6 is saying that the script failed on the client.

So, all troubleshooting needs to be done on the client.

Is this a new config that has never worked before?
Have you tried Oracle Intelligent Policies instead of traditional rman scripts?

Have you checked the output produced by the script?

Were log folders created on the client?

You need these folders on the client under /usr/openv/netbackup/logs with 777 permissions:

bphdb and dbclient

Please copy script, script output and logs to .txt files (e.g. script.txt, script-output.txt, dbclient.txt, etc) and upload as File attachments.

PS: In future, please rather copt the text in output and then post as text.

Here is how I would go about troubleshoot an error code 6:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/general-database-backup-error-troubleshooting

and usually do this too:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/general-connectivity-troubleshooting-status-23242558-...

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

Hi Marianne,

I am new in NBU, dont know much about NBU.

Thanks for the Support.

Found mistake in the script, which was rectified. Backup collected successfully.

Facing other issue while doind restore.

We are trying to do Restore Oracle DB using Backup Client from Master Server, which was backuped using RMAN. We can't see any instance or file.

Please start another discussion for restore issues.

Before you do, please go through the restore section of NetBackup for Oracle Administrator's Guide

You cannot restore from BAR on the master server - restores can only be initiated from the client as it needs to use rman.
