Hi all!
I'm doing some research on the possibilities of sharing a library between a storage tek netbackup 6.5.4 (installed on Redhat) master / media server and NetBackup 7.1.0.2 (installed on a W2K8 R2 Enterprise)master / media.
I can not find information on the feasibility of it :)
Could someone enlighten me?
Thank you in advance for your answers

You can share a StorageTek Library using Oracle ACSLS. ACSLS run on Oracle Solaris or AIX only.

What type of robot do you have - Is it possible to hard partition it ?.

Hello Nicolai,
You can do several "partitions" with ASCLS software. Please read your ACSLS manual. I forgot how to do that, but I remember that you can edit a conf file and restart services on ACSLS.
You will be able to filter drives and media to show for each of your servers.

I know - I am not the one posting the question - I just translated the question from French.
I am using ACSLS extensive using volume access (much better than "hard partitions), I have even written a short blog of how to configure it:
http://www.mass.dk/netbackup/guides/61-acsls-volume-access-control.html
The question about hard partitioning was asked to nicoxnoise. Maybe his robot offer this out of the box.

thanks for your answers!
My library is a storageTek SL 500 StreamLine
I'm going to read your blog and see if i can get some interesting informations!

The SL500 support to 8 partitions. You do not need ACSLS
See Section 5 : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19724-01/96116KB/96116KB.pdf
The activation of Native Partitioning require a license from Oracle (but I guess it must be cheaper that a Solaris server and ACSLS).

Thanks a lot for your explanations and the link.
i didn't know this point.
i'm going to learn about it

No problem
I think a native partition is what you are looking for - An ACSLS soloution is way overkill unless you have a really large installation with 1000's of cells.
Please consider to mark one of the post as a soloution.
