Preserve Multiplexing is used when you duplicate tape that's multiplexed.

If you don't use multiplexing "Preserve Multiplexing" does not apply/has no effect.

Pls note multistreamed backup is something different that multiplexing. Multistreamed backup is using multiple backup stream to backup a single client. Data from that client may go to a single drive with multiplexing enabled to to multiple drives with multiplexing disabled (Max number of streams set to 1).

Please work out the answer yourself.

What do you think will happen if you choose 'preserve multiplexing'?

What do you think will happen if you don't?

If you are unsure, do a small test backup with multiplexing enabled.

Duplicate the backup using 'preserve multiplexing'.

Tell us what the result is.
