Hi,
is it possible to perform a restore from windows to solaris?
best regards.

Unfortunately cross platform restores may not work, this is down to the differences in the operating systems as opposed to NBU.
The only thing you can do is try it and see, but if it is unsuccessful there is nothing that can be done to fix.

What error do you get?
You need to bear in mind that Windows is not case sensitive and also that the redirected path needs to be in Windows format (so you backup /tmp but restore to C:\tmp)
It may be that you need to do just a few files at a time so that sub folders are not included - or it may be that it just won't work!

Hi,
the error is "invalid destination pathname"
source E:\onedoc\data\2010 windows
destination /users/dupmob solaris10

Make sure you have created the directory to restore to before you try the restore as it may not be able to create the directory for you during the restore
Create it and give evenyone full rights - also use the restore individual files and folders to different locations as it wont be able to re-create the original directory structure
Otherwise you will need to try it file at a time

Ahh, good point Mark, ok, I'll adjustr my answer, "there may not be much you can do apart from create any dirs required ...."

The restore from unix to windows and vice versa is not supported.

It is not supported but may well work - did you try the files from just one directory at a time using the "restore individual files and folders to different locations" option?

Restore of a Windows file to a Solaris (any Unix/Linux platform) server can have problems. There is a thing called a Windows Stream header that if it exists can cause issues.
Once the file is restored check it with the "file <fname>" command to see if the server "sees" it correctly.
Windows Master and Unix client image do not have this problem.
