Hi all,
have a problem some where with slow performance with a newly upraged 8.1.1 installtion (from 7.7.3). We also had windows updates installed too. We now facing that jobs are taking days to complated when before it was hours. We are seeing this with both backup jobs of clients and also SLP jobs. We cant see any errors or problems open for any of the hardware in this estate, we have also rebooted all the master & media server and disk & tape storage which are used in this installtion. Logging level are set to min (which is default i belive)
We backup clients to disk storage then slp the image to tape for a longer retention. Master and media servers are windows 2012 R2 Standard
i'm having problems trying to pin point the problem at this time. Is it a 8.1.1 thing? is it a windows update thing?

Have you tried to test the performance outside NetBackup ?
With file copy, iperf, nttcp or similar. Also try the bpbkar to nul (see technote for exact description) on some of the problematic clients to see how fast you pull the data from the client.

moving files from client to server is like normal, it feels like netback as slown down which feels like window updates had something to do with it. I've had a google this monring and a look on here but cant seem to find anyone with the same problem :(

You did not say what type of disk storage is being used?
If MSDP, the ffingerprint conversion could be causing this.

We are backing up to a HP StoreOnce catalyst (open storage) then running a SLP job to take a copy of that image to tape

quick update - we found that the disk storage had a few problems which we are looking into.
