first of all, i hope this solution gets pinned. is it an undocumented feature or an easter egg?

on to my question/s:

  1. if i implement multiple media servers,
    1. can they use a common LUN? with different mount points each
  2. must all media servers have the same OS as the master server?
  3. during restores, are the files restored directly over the wire to the destination of they pass thru the media server first (buffering or something)?

regards,

I know #2 is No.

1.1 Is generally a bad idea unless your talking about either a CSV or DATASTORE with virtual media servers. There you will have to watch the I/O performance as media servers are pretty I/O intensive by nature of what they do.

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

Hi Rino,

1) Not recommended as there will I/O operations done and it will beloaded

2) Its not required that all master and media servers should be of same OS

3) Data is read from storage were it is storead and use Media server network to pass through it to restore on destination client.
