Hello,
I like to replace our 10 year old library with a new one and would like to hear your thoughts about the below strategy.

What i already did
What i think i should do
NBU will only append to an existing tape if the retention level is the same (fullfilled).
When you specify destination to duplicate to, you can only specify the storage unit and pool.
So, if there are other tapes with space left that fit all criteria, NBU may choose a different tape.
This means that you will have to ensure that the tape you want to duplicate to is the only possible choice.
Therefore:

Therefore:
Your steps seem fine. Since you seem to have only 1 LTO3 you need not worry to much about tape wastage. As long as what you're duplicating is the same retention it would go on to 1 media until its full.
Also, for your catalog backup, you didn't note to also change the storage unit to LTO6 drives.

Thanks for the hint, i rechecked that.
It is configured to "All available" in my case, so it was perfectly working that night with pulling tapes from the new robot.
