Hi All

Master server : Solaris 10, NBU 7.1.0.3.

I am try to fetch infomation about the images in media from catalog, I am facing issue in it.

When I try to do it from catalog section in GUI,I recieve following error.

uexpected return value from db_IMAGErecieve : allocation failed 10 (status 10)

When I run command bpimmedia from CLI , I recive "Allocation Failed " Error.

I followed one technote from Symantec and set the vaue 50 in DBMto file.

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH19038&profileURL=https%3A%2F%2Fsy...

but it dint work.

Size of catalog is around 1 TB.

Images are on Virtual media of Quantum DXI.

Please suggest on this.

A bit shorter path to TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH19038

Did you do the 'time' test with 0 (zero) in DBMto as per the TN?

# time bpimmedia -mediaid foobar

Did you restart NBU after adding creating or changing DBMto file?

I have only ever had success with this file after restarting NBU (although the TN does not mention restart).

PS: With catalog size of 1TB, it is probably time to split into two separate master servers or else have a good look at retention levels and to distinguish between recovery and retention needs - e.g. Financial data may need to be kept for 5 years, but is it necessary to also keep each system's OS drives/filesystem for the same length of time?
Just a thought...

Hi I had not tried to bounce NBU services. Also retention level of some backups are really high even to Infinite due to businesss needs.

Issue resolved after recycling netbackup services on master server.
