unable to successfully enumerate Microsoft Exchange Public Folders

Hi, I'm not able to backup my Exchange 2007 public folder (brick-level), have been trying for weeks and really need some help.

Here is my environment:
- NetBackup version 6.5.4.
- Exchange 2007 (CCR) with SP2, running on Windows 2008 x64.
- Master server: NetBackup 6.5.4, running on Windows 2003 Ent with SP2.

Everything else is working OK...
- Backup IS files: OK
- Backup mailbox (brick-level): OK

The status message I get is as follow...

I have checked all necessary permission and all seems to be in place.

When I run the BAR on my Exchange server (logon as NBU client service account), I can 'emulate' all the mailboxes, BUT I'm also not able to 'emulate' the public folder.

Can anyone provide some insight to this issue I'm facing?

Thank you!!

Have you searched the forums for related issues? We have had numerous discusions regard Exchange and Public folders see this thread:

Yes I have searched high & low for any possible resolution...but have not found 1 yet...I have seen that thread before...yes it is the same issue...but no resolution was given...

I believe that it should be a permission issue on the public folder..my 'domain logon user' and 'NBU client service' account are already 'Exchange Organization Admin' (which is member of 'Exchange Public Folder Admin')...anywhere else I'm missing?

To perform backup and restore operations, NetBackup must have access to the mailboxes and folders. To provide this access, the NetBackup Client Service must be associated with a valid Exchange mailbox - done this already?

Yes this has been done. The NBU client service account has a valid mailbox on the Exchange 2007 server. Tested access mailbox + public folder via Outlook successful.

My maibox brick-level backup+restore is successful.

I'm thinking along the line that I need to set certain permission on the root public folder (either through asdiedit or PFDAVAdmin)...but i'm just not sure where....

 Hey mate,

I had this problem on my 03 box. Make your Make sure your netbackup account has full permissions on the server level in exchange (not just the top part). Re enter your netbackup account on the service for netbackup client in windows, restart them. Also check in AD if the netbackup account is not locked out for any reason.

Hope this helps

Hi thanks, I have verified on your suggestion but still the same issue.

Since my mailbox brick-level backup is OK, I think my nbu service acct has sufficient permission on Exchange. But something must be missing on the public folder side.

Any suggestion is appreicated.

Thank you......

May be not the right solution... But can you try to replace the NBU client service account with a Domain Account? .. I had this similar issue once in the past and once I changed the service account to Domain ID and the backup went through fine...

Already done that, in fact I have been reading and researching for the past weeks...but nothing works...I just puzzled by why my mailbox brick-level works, and public folder doesn't!

Please check if the e-mailaddress of the the NBU client service account is not hidden from the GAL. That was the trick for me. To unhide it that is....
