Let us assume that you need to know what 'update volume configuration' in robot inventory means...
Inventory will simply update the media's location in the NBU Volume database.
It does nothing to client data that resides on the tape.
Only when all images on media have expired with NBU clean out the 'Assign Time' field, which will make media available to be overwritten, but this does not happen during robot inventory.

If my understanding is incorrect, please help us to understand your query...

Ahmed, I have moved your post to a new discussion because the forum thread where you posted your comment is about configuring a new robot.
It seems you have a question about robot inventory?
If I understand your question correctly, you need to know what 'update volume configuration' in robot inventory means?
Please tell us more about your installation - NBU version, OS on master server.
Is this a new installation?
Your own experience with NBU?
If my understanding of your question is incorrect - please help me to understand what you mean with 'data also updated'?

os: windows 2003 and nbu version is 7.0

You didn't answer Marianne's question in more details.
What do you mean by "updated volume"? Did you change anything on your media tape, by running inventory, change attribute of that media using GUI or CLI?
Whether it would impact your data will depend on what action you take upon the media tape.
