upgrade from 7.0.1 to 7.5.0.1 on HP-UX master server & disk space

Hi

This may be a dumb question but is there a way to find out how much free disk space you need to perform the upgrade in the /usr/openv and the /tmp filesystems.

I ran the upgrade yesterday and had lots of issues with /tmp in particular.

on /usr/openv you don't need more than 2G over you available, but on /tmp you need 6 G (NBU 7.5 and patches 7.5.0.1).

Have you checked Release Notes and Installation Guide?

Links to all 7.5 manuals: http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5138

7.5.0.1 space requirements should be documented in relative download links....

yes I have been through the release notes and the 7.5 upgrade guide there really isn't a lot of information on how much free disk space is required.

For instance when I installed off of my downloaded copy of 7.5 when the server install was running it failed because it was using /tmp to unpack the file basically it filled /tmp.

I can't find anything that reccommends how much free space is required in /tmp

NBU 7.5.0.1 Release Notes: http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5429

p.30:

When installing on an HP-IA 11.31 media server, you can encounter a situation
where there is not enough allocated space in /tmp. The NetBackup 7.5.0.1 patch
installation requires about 2,435,971 kilobytes of space. Before you install the
NetBackup, make sure there is enough allocated space in /tmp.

You don't need manuals, you just need Marianne ...

I found a limit in /tmp definition in the fstab/vfstab in /etc and removed it to allow my install to work.
