Setting up the Netbackup 6.5 client on a Red Hat 6 linux machine...

The client is usually setup with the xinetd service...

Will someone please give the exact steps to set the netbackup service without using xinetd...

I would like the information for an ineterview I have coming up...

Thanks!!

I would have failed that interview!!

As far as I know xinetd is a requirement on Linux clients.

O, wait - I remember something - bpcd and vnetd can be started with -standalone:

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpcd -standalone
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/vnetd -standalone

You will need a startup script to automate this.

This is the default in NBU 7.x.
