/usr and /opt

I am pushing client software from linux master to linix client through ssh,

we are doing as below

mkdir /opt/nebackup

ln -s /op/netbackup /usr/openv and then

ssh install_clien_files clientname from master.

If I dont do mkdir /opt/nebackup,ln -s /op/netbackup /usr/openv,software is installed in /usr/openv.

I am in impressioin that netbackup by default it is installed in /usr.

Just by creating dir /opt/nebackup and a link, netbackup is installed in /opt,why?

When did I say it to install in /opt?

You've answered that yourself?

If I dont do mkdir /opt/nebackup,ln -s /op/netbackup /usr/openv,software is installed in /usr/openv.

So when you did link /usr/openv to /opt/openv you're directing it to /opt .......
