/usr/openv/tmp/ full due to align files

Hello,

we have a problem regarding netbackup ona  media server that stopped to work due to a saturation of space under /usr/openv/tmp.

almost 4000 align files are created in this directory and according to this technote : https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100046168 this happens on veritas appliances.

this is not an appliance veritas, just an ordinary server with redhat on it.

can we safely delete this files? I just moved them to another location (/tmp/tmpnetbackup/) but it also filled that space..

Hello,

Yes, you can delete these file if there is no VMware backup.

An EEB exist for 8.2: 3997921 Version 2:

Veritas Bug ID: ET 3997921 
 
Issue: NB_8.2 MPX tape jobs slow/hang after checkpoint unless DBM_NEW_IMAGE_DELAY = 1000 
 
Problem Description: 
Fix for non-unique backup start times in MPX group with CPR.
Bundle overlapping 8.1.2 TechAlert associated with ET 3983026.
Bundle 8.2 EEBs that overlap binaries bpbrm/bptm/bpdm.
 
Version:  NetBackup 8.2
 
README NOTES:
 
Install Location: This EEB bundle should be installed on media servers with tape storage units and may also be useful on other types of media servers.
 
Fixes included in this bundle:
 
ET3997715: Slow or hang if backup start times are not unique for MPX group with CPR.
ET3981646: Setting wrong retention on replicated image for vmware backup with instant access.
ET3992800: Restore fails if destination client has image with same backup start time as source client.
ET3991273: Media server option to DISABLE_WHITELISTCACHE_CLEANUP_ON_JOB_START.
ET3982086: Media server disk filling, not deleting @align files after VMWare Accelerator backups.
ET3989866: Activity Monitor does not show speed/data statistics during Client Direct restore.
 
Note: This is a bundle that contains an 8.2 fix for the the 8.1.2 TechAlert associated with ET 3983026.
Replicated images of Vmware clients have incorrect expiration when imported on target
 
Version 2 added fixes for:
 
ET 3989864: Activity Monitor does not show speed/data statistics during Client Direct restore.
ET 3988999: AIR Replication - cannot find TIR fragment for backup

We deleted the files and installed the EEB.
