vCenter Server Appliance

AlexLogan
Level 2

I got a new ESX server (vCenter) which runs on VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6 update 2 (SUSE OS)

Need to know, how to backup the VMs hosted on this vCenter?

Ideas/suggestions are much appreciated.

Your VMware version is simply too new for NBU 7.5 and therefore not supported.

'Not supported' means that it will not work.

If you want to backup Vmware / vSphere 6.0, you will need to upgrade NBU to a supported version as per the SCLs in my previous post.

You will firstly need to upgrade to NBU 7.6.1.1 or later - preferably 7.7.3 as all NBU versions up to 7.6.1.x will reach EOSL in about 4 months.

See Virtual Systems Compatibility in the SCLs:

NetBackup 7 - 7.6.x OS SCL: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000040842
NBU 7.7 OS SCL: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000025229

How to backup VMs is documented in NetBackup for VMware Administrator's Guide

The software upgrade will be considered in near future.

I have configured the vCenter in NBU but the backup is failing with the following error.

Error bpbrm(pid=6358) from client NBU_OpsCenter: ERR - Error opening the snapshot disks using given transport mode: Status 23

Snapshot create/delete by NBU is successful.

Tried all the transport modes, no use. Any help on this?
