Hello Gurus,

how can do i file level restore from vmware backups, is it necessary client installation ,in vm machine

Yes, if you are going to restore a singel file to the VM you need to install client software on the host.

Hi,

 

You can use NetBackup (together with vStorage) to backup the whole image (vmdk) but have the ability to restore individual files by running only 1 backup process. For restores of individual files you'll need the NetBackup Client installed in the guest (as Kenneth stated).
